Ethanol (ethyl alcohol) is a renewable, biodegradable, high-octane motor fuel derived from the sugars, starches, and cellulosic matter found in corn. It has been used as a fuel or fuel additive since the days of Henry Ford’s Model T, and today, virtually every gallon of gasoline consumed in the United States contains fuel ethanol.
Modern flex fuel vehicles are capable of efficiently using fuels composed of up to 85% ethanol, commonly referred to as E85.
Ethanol production plays an important role in supporting renewable energy, agriculture, and rural communities. Ethanol helps reduce dependence on fossil fuels while contributing to:
Lower fuel costs
Domestic job creation
Growth within the agricultural economy
Reduced environmental impact
In a typical year, UWGP produces approximately 68 million gallons of ethanol.
Supporting Renewable Energy
UWGP is proud to contribute to the renewable fuels industry through efficient operations and high-quality ethanol production. By maximizing the value of every bushel processed, we continue supporting both energy independence and the future of agriculture.
